On every Monday in July and August, you will have the opportunity to experience both the trotting and galloping races live. Do you have a preference?
TROTTING – In trotting sports the horse is not ridden, but the jockey or driver sits in a sulky behind the horse. The horse in front of the sulky is a trotter, a horse specially bred and trained for the purpose, which does not switch to top gear.
GALLOP – In gallop racing, the jockey sits on the horse’s back. Although, sitting can hardly be said, to allow the thoroughbred to gallop in the most free manner in its highest gear, he stands straight in the short stirrups and leans forward to cleave through the air with his head close to that of his horse as aerodynamically as possible.
